OOTD: Portobello Road

 Dungarees - Rokit (Vintage)
Shirt - Urban Outfitters
Earrings - MyAsho Market (link)
Shoes - Adidas (Superstars)
Backpack - Longchamp
Sunglasses - Jeepers Peepers

Today I (Arianne) decided to head down into Notting Hill with a friend to wander about Portobello Market. It made a difference from the usual visit to Camden Town - body jewellery was replaced by brooches and selfie sticks by silverware. Of course I can not even discuss Notting Hill without mentioning The Hummingbird Bakery (see pictures below), which sells some of the nicest cakes known to mankind - walking in the shop was as if there were angels dancing in your nostrils (yes this is a hell of a weird description, but it was GODLY). We also went to a place in Soho for lunch called Herman ze German, which you should check out if you have a love for Schnitzel and all things Wurst.
I always wear my dungarees and am actually surprised that they have only just made an appearance on the blog as I practically live and breathe vintage denim, and love them as they remind me of the 90's, which (style-wise) seems to be the best era out there. The day was, as British summers go, not too warm but just about bearable, so I could just about get away with these clothes sans outerwear. As the look felt a bit 'meh', I topped it off with Nars '413 Blckr' lipstick, and these earrings from a brand called MyAsho Market, which I am in love with due to the fusion of African fabric/prints with contemporary styles.

When in Rome...

Polo Shirt - Primark
Shorts - American Apparel
Bag - Longchamp
Sunglasses - Jeepers Peepers
Shoes - Adidas (Superstars)

***
A few weeks back I (Arianne) had the chance to go to Italy for a holiday with my family. After spending a weekend or so in Rome, we went to Sorrento, a seaside town on the Amalfi coast. I love city breaks due to the endless options of things to see and do, as well as the general vibe of a busy town. Rome was great as I had never been there before, and fell in love with the architecture, weather and, of course, the food, returning with at least five pounds of extra weight and dissatisfaction with the British cuisine and frozen pizzas.  Everyday it was pretty hot, so I tried to keep as cool as possible by wearing light tops and getting my legs out (whilst unintentionally channelling some sort of  urban-sporty-Wes-Anderson-Lolita hybrid in the process). It was a good holiday, with no shortage of tasty gelato, speedy scooters, ancient art and architecture, inappropriate pasta and American tourists. Whilst it sucks to be back we both cannot wait for what the rest of the summer holds, and here are some photos from the trip...

Summer Favourites

This summer is a bit of a busy one but here are some of our favourites to get us through the season...
CLOTHING
Halter Tops (Brandy Melville) - For a long time now we have been caught in the wave of 90's inspired clothing making a return (thank God) and so for summer, have been investing in a multitude of crop tops, particularly halter tops. These are so light and perfect for the season as you barely ever get hot and they are a great but simple alternative to a plain tee, especially if you feel like showing some skin.
MAKEUP
Nars BLKR 413 Lipstick and Mac Haute and Naughty Mascara - Given from one of us to the other as a birthday present, this lip colour has quickly become one of my (Arianne) favourites...ever. Yes, you could argue that it's not particularly bright or colourful but those are two things I'm don't normally 'do' so this is a perfect shade all-year round.
READS
i-D Magazine, The Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and The Go-Between by J.P. Hartley - Being obsessed with various fashion magazines can be an expensive habit, but it's definitely worth it when you get a few hundred pages of some of the world's most bad-ass individuals in the creative industry, which is why we love the magazine so much. These books are also great pool-side reads. Whilst one is compiled of great short stories which offer a sense of humour, emotion and realism, the other is more of a classic and tells a less conventional love story.
HOMEWARE
Room Diffuser (Primark) and Cacti (Homebase) - In the process of redecorating my room, I have been eager to find small bits here and there to make the room look as aesthetically pleasing and worthy of a Tumblr feature as possible. These items are inexpensive and, personally, they add quite a cool touch if your room follows some sort of minimal/monochrome theme.
