OOTD: Parisian

Summer is unfortunately coming to a close and I think it's fair to say it's been a ride. I have been fortunate enough to travel to Budapest, Valencia, Barcelona and finally Paris - one of my favourite cities in the world - with family and friends, getting drunk on sun, sightseeing and sangria. Of all my summer excursions, Paris was definitely my most sartorial of them all, so here is an outfit post (unintentionally adhering very much to the French fashion cliché) and I will be sure to post more details of my trip on here later!

Hello again world! In the last week of my Easter break I met up with an old friend I hadn't seen in what seemed like absolutely foreverrrrrrr. The photos of me grinning excessively was not only a result of being able to see an old mate, but also the fact that a) it was sunny b) it was sunny and c ) it was SUNNY :)
Anyway, I hope you lioke this outfit and hopefully will hear from me in the near future...and I mean it this time

Paris (+ OOTD)

To take some pressure off post-exam and pre-result stress and hysteria, I was able go travelling all around Europe with a bunch of close friends. Whilst train-hopping through central Europe, we encountered castles and monuments, bizarre local cuisines and equal amounts of both casual misogyny and fetishisation (think comments containing the terms 'Beyonce', 'Milk chocolate' and, my personal favourite, 'Nubian queen'. Other than the occurrences mentioned, along with missing trains and going way over budget in certain situations, it was a trip of a lifetime and, in the least Disney Channel way possible, taught me a lot about myself and others. To top the trip off however I went to Paris with one of my best friends, Maria, for a slightly less hectic and more metropolitan end to the trip. We were able to make the most of our trip, seeing almost every sight possible despite making very poor clothing and shoe choices day-in-day out. I only managed to photograph one OOTD on my iPhone so be warned of questionable image quality, but below are also photos of our adventures...

I mean it when I say long time no see. I've been crap, no, abysmal at this thing, admittedly and fairly obviously. Exams, constantly plundering motivation in every way shape and form in a creative context and even the temptation to give up blogging etc. can be used to explain my AWOL attitude towards this in recent days but I came to a number of conclusions from my absence
1. I will regret pressing the delete button in the long run
2. No.1 is a fact
3. Posting something - an outfit, a thought, hell, even a rant - is better than wiping my presence off the blogosphere entirely
4. I shouldn't be so perfectionist with this whole thing. Not to say the future of looklovewear will be scruffy with collosal effing and jeffing, but I need to remember that this is not Vogue, just a little site on my 14 inch screen so I should take it easy, no matter how shit (there it is!) iPhone quality photos may be

After losing an SD card and being to pedantic about posting more iPhone outfit/beauty/life photos, I'm back with another mediocre outfit. It's been over a month since I last posted, which I honestly feel quite crappy about, but I've returned. Although I will soon be entering the firey depths of hell, also known as A-Levels, hopefully blogging will become an outlet to share stuff or just rant about this-and-that...I couldn't think of anything worse than teaching myself the logistics of the British Economy for 5 hours daily...
This was a pretty casual outfit, taken from an afternoon in Camden Town. I'll happily admit that I actually like the ripped-jeans-and-fishnets trend probably plaguing your Instagram feed at this very moment, but that it did not keep me from just about freezing :)

DIY Off-the-Shoulder Top

Inspired by recent spring/summer collections, the infamous Zara shirts and Youtube channel 'The Fashion Citizen', here is a simple tutorial on how to make your very own off-the-shoulder top...

  • Scissors
  • Fabric
  • Elastic - (two strips measured to the width of your upper arms and one to your chest)
  • Measuring tape

 1. Firstly, measure your upper body - across your chest and around your back - and multiply this value by 1.5 for the measurement for the main piece of fabric, whilst it should be around 10 inches in length for a more cropped effects. For the both sleeves, measure your upper arm and multiply this value by two, as well as measuring your desired length (mine were about 6 or 7 inches). Make sure to leave space for the seam and elastic casing.
2. Using the pieces of fabric for the sleeves on the opposite side, sew along the seam. At this point, also stitch up where you want your casing to be, which will allow you to thread the elastic through.
Don't forget to leave space/a gap where you can bring through your elastic.
3. Next, if desired, hem your sleeves and begin to thread the elastic. You can do this by using two
safety pins, pushing your pieces of elastic through the casing by scrunching up the fabric along the pin (see the link for more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJA-2RcNK8w).

4. Once you have done this, sew up the gaps you have left and turn your fabric inside out, and repeat this step for the main part of the top.
 5. Finally, using a small simple stitch, attach the sleeves to the main part of the top and voila!

So here's just a quick post before we get back to 3000 essays and writing a half-decent personal statement for university application...
One day, I (Arianne), went out to a few galleries with a friend. Being a walking about and sketching type of day, I decided stick to the basics and go for jeans, boots and a casual tee. You may be thinking - why the hell are you wearing two shirts and a puffer jackets? Need I explain British weather? Needless to say it was an eventful and enjoyable day, despite the unexpected spouts of rain, blazing sunshine and getting slept on by a stranger on the tube...
