OOTD: Out with the old and in with the new...

After well over a debatably excusable month or so of blogging, I'm back with more motivation. Did I say I? Yes - I - as I (Arianne) am now embarking on blogging solo. Whilst it is a shame to no longer continue this as a duo, hopefully blogging alone will allow this to become more of a personal creative platform as we reach the new year, something which I have been wanting to do as I've gotten a bit older and particularly with the rise of your trend-grabbing-run-of-the-mill personal style and beauty bloggers, so stay tuned for more think and rant pieces...oh and OOTDs of course...

Have we completely dropped off the face of the earth? No. Despite the fact that we've pretty much gone AWOL over the past few weeks/month, this is not due to laziness or forgetfulness, but instead the truck-load of work we've been bombarded with in preparation for mock and A-Level exams. 

Because of this, we've had to drag out an old OOTD to share with you, so the style/colours my not apply as much as we approach SS16 (though we'll only stop wearing black when they make a darker colour...)

Now I (Arianne) don't know about anyone else, but I don't seem to have any clothes which are appropriate for the season. Only God knows how this is, but I find my self wanting but not being able to wear crop tops, the adolescent wardrobe staple which goes with virtually everything, all-year-round, with the conflict of freezing to death preventing me from fulfilling my goal. Today I managed to wear this top, however, layered over a turtleneck, as it added a nice and shiny touch to a practically all-black get up, and was the only crop top which could be worn with a top underneath which would not make be look like an absolute idiot. Yes, this isn't a new idea, but as part of experimenting with personal style in 2016, as well as being obsessed with the likes of 90's icons Cher Horowitz and Buffy Summers, this outfit seemed more appropriate than ever...

A couple of weeks ago  I (Arianne) went to Oxford Street for a rather unsuccessful shopping trip. With a limited amount of AW/15 stuff in stock at the time, I didn't manage to pick up a multitude of items for the approaching season, but only a few small things here and there. I layered this £2 silk shirt from Oxfam over a simple black top (charity shopping has become a recent obsession) , which I'm pretty sure is a pyjama top but I'm in love with the burnt orange colour so who cares anyway? I also wore my vintage Levi's (see this post for more) which have been further distressed, but I quite like them even more this way as they look a bit more worn-in.

When in Rome...

A few weeks back I (Arianne) had the chance to go to Italy for a holiday with my family. After spending a weekend or so in Rome, we went to Sorrento, a seaside town on the Amalfi coast. I love city breaks due to the endless options of things to see and do, as well as the general vibe of a busy town. Rome was great as I had never been there before, and fell in love with the architecture, weather and, of course, the food, returning with at least five pounds of extra weight and dissatisfaction with the British cuisine and frozen pizzas.  Everyday it was pretty hot, so I tried to keep as cool as possible by wearing light tops and getting my legs out (whilst unintentionally channelling some sort of  urban-sporty-Wes-Anderson-Lolita hybrid in the process). It was a good holiday, with no shortage of tasty gelato, speedy scooters, ancient art and architecture, inappropriate pasta and American tourists. Whilst it sucks to be back we both cannot wait for what the rest of the summer holds, and here are some photos from the trip...

OOTD: Brick Lane

So today I took a trip to Brick Lane with some friends, for a spot of vintage shopping, good food and a nice time. The weather started off nicely (the reason why I didn't wear tights), then transformed into cold, rain and even a bit of snow, before getting sunny again- typically bipolar British weather. I borrow the jacket off of a friend so that I wasn't head to toe in black. Thankfully, it was super warm and love the pop of red. This look is very sports inspired and, in all honesty, I felt like I was emulating a less-cool Ronan McKenzie. Just to update you, I got a forward helix piercing which. I think, didn't hurt at all and looks pretty good- the only downside of it is probably having to keep it in for 10 weeks! A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to visit the Saatchi Gallery, a modern art museum in Chelsea, London. The photos seen above are just a few examples of some of the fantastic pieces which we saw around the gallery, which boasted several rooms and floors of artwork, for example, the 'Oil Room' (last photo, above) where the floor of the room is covered in oil, making a really cool and trippy reflective effect (see Google for more details as this is not the best description).
