So in the spirit and upkeep of New Year's Resolutions we have decided to do more DIYs/crafty things. Got an ugly/boring jumper? Pimp it out with embroidery. Because some of us may not have the skills to make a couture dress or structured jacket, this is a simple and easy way to customise your clothes and make them look pretty original, so without further ado, here's the tutorial...
You will need...- Jumper/Top
- Needles and Thread
- Pen/Pencil
- Design
- Embroidery Wheel (optional)
1. (Optional) Attach your fabric to the embroidery wheel. You should make sure that this is tight/firmly adjusted to it so that it is easy to draw on your pattern/design.
2. Find a design. Whilst we went for something a bit more anatomical, you can also use your own drawings and pictures (we highly recommend Tumblr as your source of inspiration...).
3. Draw on your design lightly with a thin pen or pencil.
4. Start embroidering :) If you do no know how to do this, the easiest way to to follow the pattern you have drawn with a backstitch (see below).
4. If you have (like us) done an anatomical heart, use blue and red thread to sew on the veins. You can use diagrams and images form online as a reference, but we pretty much made it up.
Voila! We also customised a pair of jeans, which you can see above...

Love what you've done with those jeans, they look great! I think embroidery is really going to be big this year, especially embroidered jeans - I've seen a few pairs kicking around Topshop recently. Great post very creative :) Want to follow each other on Bloglovin' so we can keep up with eachother? Love your blog.
